Finding a place to live in Berlin is really tough.
A couple of months ago some students got naked in protest for the sky-high rents.
I would suggest this site, it has a some offers for low priced apartments.

Hey, I'm Pietro from Italy! I'm in Berlin since the 23rd of February for an internship in architecture/design field and I stay till the end of July. Somebody has plans for the weekend? I know about an erasmus party at Maria am Ostbahnhof on friday!

Hey! I'm a spanish medicine student and will be studying at FU the 2011/2012 academic year. I am going to Berlin on my own and would like to meet other erasmus students in order to make the experience a little less traumatic! Hi everyone!

I'll be moving to Berlin in January for my Masters thesis, and will stay there upto June. I'm looking for an apartment to stay at! Any awesome people out there looking for a roomie?

About me, when I'm not being a nerd, I'm into beer, parties, photography, and organising Indian dinner parties. :) Let me know if any of you super fun people out there are interested! :)
