One of the most emblematic places of Portugal is the Alentejo region. Located in the south, it has a nice climate - warm almost the whole year, and great places to visit such as Évora (the most famous city in the region). But the villages in Alentejo also have its charm.
Vila Nova de Milfontes is one of those small and really cute cities in the Alentejo. It is a beach city, where the Mira river meets the sea and it has beautiful sightseeings.
The biggest beach in the city is the Praia da Franquia, with a great view to other side of Mira river, where you can find Praia das Furnas. It is a long beach with a fortress on one side and a small harbour on the other. You can walk the whole way through it, letting the clean water from the river touch your feet.
Other than the beach
The city also has some nice things to do such as visiting the fortress and the churches. But the nicest thing to do in Alentejo is enjoying the cuisine. The region in known for its fine wines and dishes that include lots of seafood and different meats. It also has many cheeses and sweets.
You can eat all of this things in almost every restaurant in town since they're all very traditional and local because it's a small city.
