The introduction

Hello everyone, I hope, that you are all doing just fine!

In this article I want to tell you about my experience in Basel. Well, I’ve been to Basel for several times now and I’ve quite sightsaw it already, you know, however, there’s much more to see, of course.

Visiting Basel

First of all, there’s this airport in Basel, which I have used to go to Tbilisi and come back from it and Pegasus Airlines has this flight to Basel and the Turkish Airlines had it, too. If I remember correctly and that’s pretty easy then to go from Basel to Freiburg, because these cities are just nearby, technically, they meet on the border of Germany and Switzerland and it’s pretty close and it’s really easy to get from one city to another that way. So that I just had these flights to Basel airport and then I would go to Freiburg by bus. I also visited Basel with my host mother, who just gave me this great tour of Basel and we saw so many things there and she was quite familiar with the city as she often goes there, as I guessed. And we visited Basel from college, too, I mean, there were some of us chosen to go there and visit some museums and get to know the culture of Switzerland and not only the Switzerland itself, you know.

Well, walking into those streets of Basel, you feel like at home, because everything is like familiar to you, though it might be the very first time that you are visiting Basel, you know. However, everything there is so cozy and the buildings are so very well decided and built and preserved, that you just want to walk there and look around and you can not get tired of doing that.

Visiting Basel

To be honest, I’ve been to Basel for some times now and I still haven’t seen everything there, I guess, however, it’s not that large of a place. And it’s very nice and beautiful.

There are many places, that you can visit while being in Basel, I mean, there are museums, buildings, sculptures and other things, that you might want to see. There are this Rathaus building, which is a pretty beautiful one and the PharmazieHistorisches Museum and the Paper Mill Museum.

There’s even this fountain full of Tinguely sculptures and you can see them free of charge in the middle of the town or whatever.

There’s this Spalentor, which is a city gate and it’s this marvelous thing, that you have seen in movies and things like that and it’s one of the ancient gates, I guess, so that you should definitely see it while in Basel.

Kunstmuseum

So, the very first thing we saw, when we went to Basel from our college trip was this museum of art, which was pretty interesting, and that was the first museum of art, which I ever visited, I guess.

Visiting Basel

Well, this museum is just nearby the Rhine River and it’s a very fine museum, which is worth visiting. Its working hours are from 10 a. m. till 6 p. m. and you can visit it anytime during it. It’s 15 euros entrance, but it’s worth every penny, because there are art pieces from the medieval ages to the modern art and it’s one of the largest and oldest public museum collections in Europe. You can see Picasso, Dali, Lucas Kranach and others there and you can spend hours walking into the halls of this museum.

Visiting Basel

Anyways, Basel is a place worth visiting and if you are in Switzerland or if you have a flight there in Basel, you should spend some time looking around the place and enjoy everything there.
