What is the best student housing neighborhood in Barcelona?

Hi everyone!

My name is Anthony and I'm from Edinburgh (UK). I'm 22 years old and I'm going to study the second semester of my third year of mechanical engineering at University Pompeu Fabra.

I will arrive in Barcelona next February and stay until September (I want to take advantage of the crazy Spanish summer). Right now I'm looking for this student housing accommodation for at least six months (maybe nine if I stay longer) but I do not know which neighborhood in Barcelona is better. I do not care about distances, I'm looking for a neighborhood with people, shops, life, activity, discos, bars, squares ... I do not care if it's further or nearer the center or my faculty. I do not understand Catalan very much and I am learning Spanish so it is difficult for me to read about the neighborhoods of Barcelona.
