Arriving...

My first minutes in Barcelona. Still inside the El Prat Airport and already with so many things to be taken care of... It's a relaxing thought to know you don't have to face everything alone. And I wasn't alone... I had with me my two roomates-to-be and we'd go through the anxiety of the first few days together. Two people I knew so little about till then and with whom I'd share some of the most amazing, funny, stupid and worth-remembering moments of my life in the next few months. But let's not do any spoilers yet...! :P

I remember us going around the airport, with 2 suitcases and a laptop each, trying to find the exit! Yeah... We knew we had to take the train to go to the city center, we knew how it was called in spanish, we knew which ticket we had to buy and obviously (! ) had everything organized. Or so we thought... It took us about 20 minutes to find the way to the train and another 30 to walk till there, but that's another story... Ok, I know it didn't take us that long, but you'll see where I'm going with this story if you keep reading. I promise!

If you ask me now, no matter how terrifying it might sound to go to an unknown place by yourself, I wouldn't waste not even a second to think about it. The stress, the fear and every other uneasy feeling you might have the first days, it's all worth it. Organize a bit in the beginning, book the flight, find a place to stay for the first few days, learn a few things about the public transport and print a map. And now GO! Start living your Erasmus! And relax, because none of it is as hard as it might seem... The worse thing that might happen if you go alone? Maybe you'll need more than 20 minutes to find the exit... Not that big of a problem, right?

And also, when you land, remember this lyric from one of my favorite spanish bands (Bongo Botrako) :

"escucha amigo, empieza hoy la gran historia de lo que queda por vivir... "

( = listen friend, today begins the great story of what remains to be lived )
