Experience in Bangkok, Thailand by Ernesto Icogo
What is it like to live in Bangkok? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
I've been to Bangkok in many occassions, either as a visitor or a transient traveler.
The city, no doubt is mystical, a typical Asian city surrounded by mystique and deep history of civilization.
The city was founded along the banks of Chao Phraya river. Along its tributaries or "khlongs" are the numerous temples and landmarks which created the Thai culture.
Yes, I will recommend Bangkok. It is one of the most visited places on earth and offers a lot, when it comes to tourism.
What is the student lifestyle like in Bangkok?
Student lifestyle in Bangkok is active and interesting. There are lots of things to learn about the city. There are adventure activities incomparable with other cities.
How much does it cost to live in Bangkok?
No exact idea how much it costs to live in Bangkok. It could be costlier than most people think.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Bangkok? Is there any advice you can give?
I think so. Since Bangkok is one of the most visited places on earth, accommodation should be difficult to find.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
As for my personal experience, I would rather advice not to eat in the streets. A typical Thai food is hot and spicy. They can be sold and found in the streets or in simple restaurant, as well as, in high-end hotels in most parts of the city.
What places would you recommend visiting in Bangkok?
For soul-searching, it is good to visit the temples, Wat Pho and Wat Arun and some other temples not in the list.
For cultural immersion, it's advisable to take the Chao Phraya river cruise and outrigger cruise in the river's tributaries or "khlongs".
Is it good to eat out in Bangkok? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
It is not advisable to eat in Bangkok streetfoods (based solely on my own personal experience). Others may find it challenging and interesting. To some curious travelers, it's enticing.
There were interesting restaurants in the BTS stations and malls. But, it will always end up at McDonald's or KFC. Many times, I ended up at Burger King because of the fast internet service.
Is the nightlife good in Bangkok? Where is good to go?
Yes! Definitely yes. Bangkok has lots to offer.
What advice would you give future students heading to Bangkok?
Think out of the box. There are new and innovative ideas out there that could help stir up ideas for professional development.
These ideas can be improve for future use.
