Schloss Seehof

If you have already found the heading curious, you might find interesting that this castle has been designed by the Italian architect Antonio Petrini in 1686, for commission of  the bishops of Bamberg.

This jewel of the Italian Baroque in Germany, built in Memmelsdorf, is surely one of the most beautiful and distinctive residence of Southern Bayern. As soon as you cross the gate, you will see this sight: the castle is located on a luxuriant and verdant pedestal, surrounded by trees, gardens and sculptures. Moreover, the contrast between the white and yellow plaster stands out against the blue sky and the green grass. 

All around, there is great peace and tranquility: in the park you can stop at the cafe, wander around the trails, admire the show of fountains or watch the stunning surrounding landscape.

The first time I visited this castle with my friends, we ended up walking through this tree-lined avenue and noticed on the right a fountain surrounded by a barren field. We wondered if that was a lake dried up or something like that, but we did not get any answer. I came back to Schloss Seehof about three weeks later, with my brother (and, this time, as a tour guide!) and I noticed that, in fact, the lake was filled with water again!

However, after sharing this little curiosity with my dear readers, I should say that I find this place definitely fascinating. I like its regal and at the same time almost simple atmosphere. It is a perfect place to sit on the grass, laying in the sun, chatting with friends and have a laugh.

Exactly what we did! Well, of course .. do not take us as an example, as we ended up talking of Italian politics, but you cannot say no to foreigners who long for your opinion on the current situation in Italy! Here I was with Martina (Italy), Judith and Jenny (Hungary), Maria (Spain), Eda (Turkey), Maxence and Benoit (France) and we spent a really nice afternoon together.

I would definitely recommend to everyone hereabout not to pass up the opportunity to visit this charming residence; I am sure it will not let you disappointed!
