What is it like to live in Augsburg? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
Augsburg is a town in the German State of Bavaria. It is by local train about 40 minutes away from Munich. Augsburg is one of the most ancient cities in Germany and its city centre looks more medieval rather than Southern German. A town for comparison could be Nuremberg.
What is the student lifestyle like in Augsburg?
There are a university and a university of applied sciences. The university campus is in the south of the city. There are a lot of student organizations where students can participate in, along with their studies.
How much does it cost to live in Augsburg?
Apartment: around 300€ per month including utilities
Grocery: 200€ per month
Transport included in the semester fees: These are 102 € per semester.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Augsburg? Is there any advice you can give?
There are basically two private-owned student accommodation facilities in Augsburg. Early Application is better. But there are also a lot of student accommodation facilities provided by the student services organization in Augsburg. But the early application is required!
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
Food at the university canteen is very diversified. You can choose between Pasta, Pizza, Asian Food, Bavarian-Swabian and Salty&Sweet. Furthermore, it was the most vegan-friendly german university canteen in 2016. But if you don't want to eat much or a little bit healthier, there is also a salad bar and a buffet with vegetables.
