What is it like to live in Angers? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Angers seems to be perfect. Relatively small in size, big enough to keep buzzing with activities. I'm not much into sports, but sport is there, and so is live music, architecture, culture, the pace of life is JUST RIGHT. It felt so right to be there.

What is the student lifestyle like in Angers?

Study in the morning, eat well with friends at noon, study a bit in the afternoon and then pubs, pubs, pubs till late on at night! Wide offer of extra-curricular activities, sports clubs and societies. I did dancing and fencing, first time in my life.

How much does it cost to live in Angers?

More than I expected, but France is quite expensive overall. I didn't really try to save money, being stupid and lighthearted, but the memories I bought for that price are now priceless.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Angers? Is there any advice you can give?

Private sector can be dodgy, you'd need a guarantor to rent our private flat. Student accommodation's rooms are very small, quite far away if you're based in City Centre campus (there are two, the other one is just next to the halls of residence) but many spontaneous parties take place in the common kitchen.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Here I could just spend the rest of my life typing. I haven't tried a single thing in France that I wouldn't like. From flamed pancakes to mussels.

What places would you recommend visiting in Angers?

Cathedral, Lac de Maine, castle, little streets in La Doutre, street market....

Is it good to eat out in Angers? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

We cooked at home most of the time (I was blessed with kitchen-creative flatmates).

Is the nightlife good in Angers? Where is good to go?

Rue Bressigny!

What advice would you give future students heading to Angers?

Watch the buildings, talk to people, go to cinemas, cycle, go to parks, explore, explore, explore!
