What is it like to live in Angers? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Angers is a great city to live in. It is half way between a big city and the countryside. The heart of the city is old and beautiful. There are a castle and a cathedral. I would absolutely recommend it!

What is the student lifestyle like in Angers?

Students usually live in small apartments. They can be close to the university. But if you are far, buses or tramway will take you there. Take care because if you are ill-situated, you may have to get a very long ride (45 minutes). Personally, I use my car. Then you have university libraries. And students use to go out at night. In the city centre, there are a lot of things to do.

How much does it cost to live in Angers?

For my flat, I had to pay 300€ a month for 18 square metre. You can find something less expensive of course!

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Angers? Is there any advice you can give?

It is not difficult. I think that the university of Angers can help you with it.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Food is good (it's France)! I must say that I love a lot of things even if it's not all French.

What places would you recommend visiting in Angers?

In Angers, there is the castle (free for students) and the cathedral (always free). There's also a theatre. I think there must be other things I haven't heard of. And next to Angers, there is Terra Botanica, which is a park with flowers.

Is it good to eat out in Angers? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

You have a lot of restaurants but you have to be careful with the prices. So Sushi and Punjab are very good Japanese and Indian restaurants.

Is the nightlife good in Angers? Where is good to go?

You can go out every nights but nightclubs will only be open from Thursdays to Saturdays. You'll probably have to spend about 10€.

What advice would you give future students heading to Angers?

Try to get to know other students and especially French students, that's the point of coming to France. And don't stay in Angers all the time, there are plenty of things to see in France!
