Experience in Amsterdam, Netherlands by Rukiye
What is it like to live in Amsterdam? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
If you know how to live and where to be on what time, you can create a big world for yourself in this small (awesome) city.. I am amazed by this city. I only would live in Amsterdam or not in the Netherlands at all.
What is the student lifestyle like in Amsterdam?
It is expensive, but if you have a job it is easy to manage all the costs you make. Just make sure you have a good income from work or Daddy..
How much does it cost to live in Amsterdam?
Between 1000 -1500 a month. (included rent, food and entertainment)
Is it good to eat out in Amsterdam? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
Yes, There are some really nice places where you can get quality food without paying a lot. Below there are some of my favorite places:
- van 't spit (best chicken you can get in the whole country)
- Pazzi Pizzeria
- Cafe George
- Foodhallen (Indoor food market where you can lounge, have a drink or eat something)
- Burgerlijk or Burgerzaken (for the best quality burgers)
- Brasserie NACIONAL
Is the nightlife good in Amsterdam? Where is good to go?
Club air and ABE Club&Lounge (at Rembrandt square). It actually depends on what you like. There are like a hundred cafes and bars which are also nice for a good night. You could go to Cafe Kooper or George at Leidse square to have a fun but not much energy taking night :). In the weekend it is pretty crowded almost everywhere.
What advice would you give future students heading to Amsterdam?
Go hard or go back home. Do everything you want to do, but never buy drugs on the streets. Try to make local friends, cause they will lead you to the best places. Places you cannot find easily as a brand-new student in this city.
