Experience in Amsterdam, Netherlands by Mirthe
What is it like to live in Ámsterdam? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
I absolutely love living in Amsterdam! The city is crowed, but not too much. It's cosy in a way that you see other people while walking or cycling through the city. I would highly recommend studying in Amsterdam, because of the little bars, cafes and people.
What is the student lifestyle like in Ámsterdam?
The student lifestyle depends totally and what you want from it. I usually woke up, went to class, had coffee/tea/lunch with a few fellow students. Another class or we stayed in the cafe for a couple of drinks and at the end you always end at Leidseplein.
How much does it cost to live in Ámsterdam?
The rent for apartments is very very expensive, between 450-600 euros all inclusive for a little room. However, groceries and drinks are not that expensive. It depends of course a lot from where you're going to.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Ámsterdam? Is there any advice you can give?
Yes, unfortunately it is difficult to find an accommodation. I would advice to subscribe to Facebook groups and websites such as kamertje.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
You can get any food you like in Amsterdam! Italian, Thai, French, Argentina, Japanse, Chinese. My favorite dish is sushi of course. There are a lot of 'all-you-can-eat' sushi restaurants in Amsterdam.
What places would you recommend visiting in Ámsterdam?
Rijksmuseum, Oudemanhuispoort, Nieuwmarkt, Leidseplein, Vondelpark, de Pijp.
Is it good to eat out in Ámsterdam? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
Yes!
