Why did you choose to go to Amsterdam, Netherlands?

It is in the middle of Europe, fast-growing city, important cultural history, typical food, well deserved.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

French scholarship called 'le CROUS' so 300 euros a month.

What is the student lifestyle like in Amsterdam?

Don't really know as I am working and not in the student district (student hotel), but there are many pubs and inexpensive places.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Amsterdam to other students?

I don't know the university, but I would definitely recommend the city to other students because it's beautiful, expensive, but nothing compared to London or Paris.

What is the food like?

Really delicious, many US fast food, but also traditional food such as the one in Manneken Pis in front of central station. There are many restaurants from all around the world.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Amsterdam?

No, I looked at it on Facebook so it was free but be careful many scams. Never paid before being sure.

How much does it cost to live in Amsterdam?

Around 600 euros a month for rent for the periphery and 1000 euros at least in the centrum.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

Language is a mix of English and German and everyone can speak English. I'm pretty sure they are some.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Amsterdam from your city?

By car, only 50 euros.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Amsterdam?

I don't know yet, I've been here only for 1 week.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Amsterdam?

Same as before.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Museum, the canals, Amstelveen and its Japanese park.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Amsterdam in the future?

Directly get the BSN number to have the metro card (if not, it is expensive), get a Dutch number, and a bank account if you plan to work there.
