Why did you choose to go to Amsterdam, Netherlands?
It was one of the city that I ve never have been before, and looking at some pictures I was surprised and I chose to visit it.
How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?
The scholarship was for 4 months but I didn't receive anything 'cause my program is a Free Mover program and I studied as an independent student.
What is the student lifestyle like in Amsterdam?
Very hard. The university in Amsterdam is difficult, but if you study little by little every day it could be easier.
Would you recommend the city and the University of Amsterdam to other students?
Yes. Because, it's a city that offers a lot of things and also in the university you could participate to a lot of activities.
What is the food like?
I am Italian so I love my Italian food, but otherwise you can try Netherlands food like potato or soup that sometimes taste good.
Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Amsterdam?
I arrived in Amsterdam without an accommodation, and it was very difficult to find an apartment. After two weeks I founded it and otherwise the rent here is expensive.
How much does it cost to live in Amsterdam?
It depends on which type of accomodation you choose, but a single rooms costs about 600 euro per months minimum.
Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available in the University?
If you know a little bit English is easy to live in Amsterdam because all people speak English, and then you can also follow Dutch courses if you want.
What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Amsterdam from your city?
By plane.
Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Amsterdam?
Coco's Pub in Rembrandtplain or Winston Club near Central Station.
And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Amsterdam?
Guacho for the meat or Big Burger for a very good tasting burger.
What good cultural sites are there to visit?
Van Gogh Museum, Riskijmuseum and Stedelik Museum.
Is there any other advice that you could give to future students who are going to Amsterdam?
Visit Amsterdam, go out always and enjoy the city. It has a lot of attractions, and you could do different thing every day. I recomend you to stay with other students, it will be more enjoyful.
