'Ik spreek geen Nederlands' has been my favourite word so far.

I have spent the last few days wandering around Amsterdam and I have enjoyed the atmosphere and the cold weather all by foot. If you are thinking to visit Amsterdam any time soon, here's some of my tips and some of my own experience's secrets.

Amsterdam in 3 days

If you can book towards the Amsterdam airport, which is more central located, it is a nicer way to reach the centre as if you land at Eindhoven it is going to take about 2 hours to reach the city center. No worries, though, transports are always available, either you can take a bus towards the city station and then a train will bring you to Amsterdam central for a total of 2 hour time. The other option is to take a bus offered by the airline that brings you straight to Amsterdam in about 1 hour and 45 minute time. For directions and info, don't freak out they all speak English and even if they don't they would understand basic words such as Amsterdam central, train, bus, where? Of course, if you could learn few basic Dutch words before you leave would be a lot more awesome. They appreciate people that try to speak their language. Moreover, the Dutch language is quite similar to English and also, to German, so if you know a little bit of both you will be totally fine. Let's get back to the tour, though.

From the central station if you proceed south, you basically could start seeing many attractions already; and that only by walking straight out of the station all the way down Damrak Straat (street). The centre is pretty much what you need to see.

In any map you take there is the draw of something pretty much like a sort of pentagon which goes towards the south from the central station. There are cool things to see outside the pentagon, such as the museums, Van Gogh and Rijksmuseum or better known as Rusk.

Once you are at the central station I, strongly suggest to take a map from any place, where you can clearly see they also sell cruises trip, which I definitely recommend, to have a better understanding of the city. A must to see are the museums, the churches, the main squares and also the markets, and the streets full of shops are very nice to walk during the day, very crowed and during the night, still crowded. Also, you shoud enter one of the Albert Hein supermarkets and go to the Botanical Gardens or a Park.

Finally my favourite place, the Red Light District. I know you all are thinking that as the most famous place in Amsterdam, I would have said that was my favourite. But hey, remember that I am a girl and the Red Light District is definitely a man's world! However I must admit that I have enjoyed the atmosphere and the girls were quite smiley and cute. What is funny for me, it is that everything comes so natural to them, that at the end of all, it was natural to me as well. Some of you could think about the objectification of women, yes that is true, but it is also true that they chose to work for those shops and also, it is their right to freely chose the life they want of live. There's a smell of cannabis that honestly bother me more than the half naked girls, lol. Apart from that, it is nice to walk there during the day and then another time during the night, so that you can see the different ambiance.

In conclusion, I really enjoyed my time in Amsterdam and I believe I would love to go back, also Dutch are not bad at all, so who knows maybe I will find my Prince Charm in some Red Light District streets or just in the Van Gogh Museum, doesn't matter where, but who.

By the way, 'Ik spreek geen Nederlands', means: 'I don't speak any Dutch! ', I am guessing you could learn this sentence and use it when you arrive in Nederland.

Have fun!
