Almeria in a pill
Almeria in a pill
Even though Almeria is not a very big city and it is not known for its touristical values, you can find here many attractions, unique places andit is full of interesting facts. Let me uncover places and sights which I find the most beautiful and enjoyable in the city of Almeria and its surroundings.
- Alcazaba is one of the largest fortification in Spain built by Arabs. This big, monumental and historical building can be seen from any part of the city. In the evening it is lighten up which makes it look even more gorgeous. Its charms are confirmed by its popularity among film directors. There are many movies which were filmed there, for example: “Indiana Johes and Last Crusade”, “Never say never again” and “Game of Thrones”.
- Paseo popularly known as Paseo Marítimo. It is a 2, 5 km long promenade which is located along the sea coast. While walking there you can admire beautiful and breathtaking views. For example one of my favorite everyday activities is watching the sunset directly above the sea. You can also treat yourself with an amazing view of the mountains right next to the water.
- The Sun is also a huge argument in favour of visiting Almeria, which is considered the most sunny city in all Europe. Average amount of sunny hours is around 8. While the temperature during whole year averages around 19 degrees.
- Indalo – symbol of Almeria city. It presents a sculpture of a man with an arch above his head, which by many is believed to be a rainbow. This prehistorical symbol was found in one of the caves in Sierra de María-Los Vélez Natural Park in Almeria province.
- Easy access to Cabo de Gata. It is a natural park which contains deserts, coasts, mountains and cliffs. Cabo de Gata is it so beautiful that for many it is the only needed reason to visit Spain.
