Generally, what is Azerbaijan State University of Languages like?

Azerbaijan University of Languages is one of the most prestigious Universities of Azerbaijan. Is situated in the capital of Azerbaijan- Baku. University consist of 3 buildings. One of them is situated near the Metro 28 May, this part is called the main corps. The main corps has 5 floor.At the first floor there are many classes, and large and luminous canteen, at the second floor there are the room of rector, department of education, the department od ERASMUS and International relations. And other parts are called The Corps of Philology and The Corps of Translation and they are located in the Tabriz street 49, near the Metro Narimanov. Two corps also has 5 floors. In the part of Philology at the first floor there are library and canteen for students and teachers too. at the second floor there are departments and readig hall, and in other floors there are classes and lecture rooms. The Translation corps has also library,assembly hall, and publishing office at the first floor, at the second floor there are Dean's, medical room, language laboratories cabinets, language departments, and in other floors the lecture room and classes also.

What are the facilities like?

I study In this University and it has various faculties as Faculty of International Relations, Teacher Training, Faculty of Philology and Faculty of Translation. Every faculty has its branchs as English philology, french philology, german philology, spanish philology. Faculty of Translation consist of German-Azerbaijan, English-Azerbaijan, Korean-Azerbaijan, French-Azerbaijan, Spanish-Azerbaijan and Spanish- Russian departments. In the group of Essex is possible study in English also. For all faculties the minimum point to pass exams is 51 of 100, but for the translation faculty this minimal point is 71. This demanded by Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan. They say that translators should have more capacity than other students.

What are the tutors like?

I study at the faculty of translation and interpretation from Spanish to Azerbaijani. The University has more than 700 teachers : Professors, doctors, teachers and etc.Teach me the professors and teachers of the department of Spanish Language. The tutors are very intelligent, smart, kind, helpful, friendly. Many of them have studies in foreign country, especially in Spanish-speaking countries. They have very much experience. One of the most kind teachers, who is name is Huseynaga writes poems in Spanish and Azeri, also translates the poems , novels from Spanish and his book of poems has published in Mexico. All teachers have translated many novels and books from Azerbaijani to Spanish o on the contrary. Besides language teachers, the teachers of the principial subjects we have teachers of other subjects, for exemplo the history, psychology, the Azerbaijani language, constitution, computer science, German, translation theory and etc. And in our University every faculty has itself native teachers from Spain, German, France, England or US. 

Are the lessons easy in Azerbaijan State University of Languages?

I think that for the diligent and hardworking student are not difficult. For me personally is easy because I like and love my faculty, future profession. The lessons are interesting, we not only translate the texts but also we learn new culture, new history. And we interpret in the languages cabinets and it is so interesting for mi and for my group mates.

Does the University organize activities; what are they like?

Yeah, of course as all universities My University also organize activities. For example every year is celebrated "Country days" as " Spain Days", "Italian days", "Korean Days" "Multicultural Days". In every national and international holiday we celebrate its days. For example "Novruz Holiday", "New Year". On special days the University holds meetings in the assembly rooms. for example "National Independence Day" , "Victory Day", "National Revival Day" , we do flashmobs in the yard of University also and etc.

Do you think the teaching is of a high quality?

Yes I do. Because teach us by different ways. We translate the texts, do crosswords, we listen the disks. My university invite professional translators form different Spanish-speaking countries for seminars, for example from 18 to 21 December has come professional translator Sr.Patrick Zabalbeascoa Terran (Professor, University Pompeu Fabra, Department of translation, interpretation) and he has organized us a training about Spanish language and linguistics. Every Saturday pass conversations on different topics.

Are there any stories you can share?

When I was studying at 2nd course came a professor from American university. His name is Alexander, He is a Spanish language expert. I couldn't speak Spanish good, because I had learnt only 1 year Spanish language. We were 4 students , 2 of our group, 2 of Russian group. We were hardworking students because they sent us to an interview with him from our university. He spoke us and liked speech of two of us. And recorded our voice/ interview to his computer and took for the students in The University of US. He said us: You speak very well, in the university of US the students speak so in the minimum third course. I was very happy that day and that day is unforgettable for me.
