Karaisali Canyon
Karaisali is a neighboring city that is an hour away from Adana. The city itself is very small, similar to a village. But when you first come to the city center, you will notice a line of statues near one ot the main roads to go to the Canyon.
Everyone in this city is very friendly and willing to help you out. Of course most of the population in this city is somewhat elderly. There is a village near-by, you can see how relaxed they are living as one with nature...
Now lets go back to this main road I waas talking about in the city center. This main road, if you have a car (best preference of transportation, or else you are looking at walking at least about 5km there and back, and within the Canyon, you will be walking alot. So if you are a hiker hobbyist or an active person, you wouldn't mind this all.) You will pass by a small bridge, which then, you will notice the mini waterfalls that is located at the beginning of the Canyon.
With recent renovations, you are able through the Canyon much easier and has been made much safer for everyone of all ages by adding railings to the edges. While you are walking along the path, you can see the wonderful carvings of the mountains and look below you and see the fresh water river. The farther you walk along in the Canyon you see different sceneries and parts. some where the is less of a river, or more of a river, lower towards the ground or even high off of ground level.
About halfway in the Canyon, there is a rest area. Many groups or outdoor clubs come here either to rest or to have BBQ, while looking at the beautiful lake view presented there. Some are willing to go and swim in the water, or even go hiking along the river-side. Just a fair warning, if you decide to cross parts of the river, be sure to have good shoes you don't mind getting wet and be careful of the current, since the water can come up high and may be strong enough to push you.
If you decide to hike from a higher level you can, eventually you would come towards a dead end. But what me and my friends did was climb on the canal route and followed it until we arrived to a travel again. With this if you walk farther down, you can see a bigger waterfall from a higher distance. The only thing about this, is that you want to make sure you go the right time, because there are times I have gone where there is a waterfall and times where there isn't because of the season.
Below is a day I went where the water was somewhat running.
So if you are looking for a nature get-a-way from the city while you are here. I would recommend this place as a wonderful place to visit and feel at peace. :)
