What is the student lifestyle like in Accra?

Accra has so many universities with a city filled with students from the University Of Ghana, University Of Professional Studies, wisconsin University, Lancaster university, Zenith College, Valley View University, Accra Business School and so many More. Accra is the Capital Of Ghana and the central economic Area of Ecowas. accra has so many night clubs and famous pubs with tourist sights included

How much does it cost to live in Accra?

it cost less than $500 to live in Accra for a month but it depends on taste and choice of living

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Accra? Is there any advice you can give?

Nope.

but if you are in Ghana to study Consult with your university especially if you are studying with the University of Ghana. they have special international hostels for international students with extra security

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Ghanaian Dishes are a bit spicy with pepper, Garlic, ginger, and curry mostly.

Ghanaian food is unique there are lots of varieties from waakye, Jollof, kenkey with chilly sauce and fried fish/seafood, Banku with Okro, and the very famous local Dish fufu with either fish, chicken, or goat soup.

Ghanaians do like Pepper a lot

What places would you recommend visiting in Accra?

Kwame Nkrumah Museum, Osu Oxford Street, Fort christiansborg/Osu castle

Aqua safari resort, Accra Mall and if you are probably in town by August do visit the charle wote street art Festival and last but not the least do visit Bloom bar, Garage Ghana and Luna bar to have fun

Is it good to eat out in Accra? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

yeah

but it depends on where you are buying your food

you have KFC, Burger King, Pizza Inn, Galitos, Pizza hut etc....

do try Kingsbite chocolate from Ghana too its the best chocolate in the world with less sugar and more cocoa

Is the nightlife good in Accra? Where is good to go?

it's superb!

Ghanaians like to party till daybreak somewhere around 5:00 am.

osu is the best location for your nightlife or alternatively you could visit east legon. (East Legon is quite expensive though)

What advice would you give future students heading to Accra?

stay safe, probably make local student friends to help you around especially when making a purchase or you could be cheated. current dollar to cedi rate (1$-Ghs 5.8)(euro-Ghs 6.4.

be wary of pickpockets, and always use cash and fewer card purchases to avoid Ghanaian and Nigerian internet scammers. Only make card Purchases with Large institutions but the best advice is to always use cash.
