What is it like to live in Abuya? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Abuja is the capital of Nigeria, it has a lively nightlife and there are pleasurable places one can visit.

The major source of transport within the city are buses, and taxis.

How much does it cost to live in Abuya?

Cost of living is quite affordable because you can get accommodation ranging from self contain to flats according to your budget.

Houses are rented on annual basis. For students, this can be quite frustrating because it means that you pay for the house even when you are out of school due to issues like strikes, lockdown (lol)

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Abuya? Is there any advice you can give?

Abuja is warm almost all through the year, and enjoys sunshine during the raining season (Mid April- late September).

So before you rent a place, check that the roof is not leaking, and that there are enough windows for access to ventilation.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Food is generally cheap and you can access intercontinental cuisines from the large number of choice restaurants and hotels in the city.

My favourite dish is Fisherman soup with Eba ( a staple food made from Cassava).

What places would you recommend visiting in Abuya?

One of such is the art village in Garki, you may also visit Gurara falls, which is located just outside the city.

What advice would you give future students heading to Abuya?

Abuja is warm almost all through the year, and enjoys sunshine during the raining season (Mid April- late September).

Avoid very warm clothes, and be willing to hear total strangers say hello to you when in a public transport.
