Welcome to our Aarhus Erasmus blog !!!

Welcome to Aarhus!

To get started with this blog, let’s have a brief introduction in regarding who we are and what we are going to share with you during the incoming months until you start an experience that is going to leave its mark on you.

Welcome to our Aarhus Erasmus blog !

We are Javier de la Iglesia, Antonio Grille and Nuria Cano, two Spanish Engineers and a Communication and Media girl all coming from Valladolid. We would present us as “Three well-organised, sociable, open-minded, adventurous, hard-working and enthusiastic people, passionate about travelling and discovering new places but always aware of the huge effort that our parents are making for us”.

We have been living in Aarhus since August 2017 and are currently enjoying our last days in this delightful city, while getting prepared to take the final spring semester exams.

Back to late February 2017, we had just been awarded with an Erasmus grant to study one year abroad in a city located somewhere in Denmark and called “Aarhus”. To be honest, at the very beginning we did not know anything but the name of the town.

By that time, and despite the big amount of information supplied by Aarhus University about “Life in Denmark”, we were feeling as excited as lost. That is why we have decided to begin this new adventure together: to make your adaptation to this life as easy and fast as possible!

Don’t be worried if you don’t know anybody else who is going to your same destination, that is basically the magic of the Erasmus. Everybody is in your same situation and willing to meet and help others out as much as you. In fact, none of us (Antonio, Nuria and Javier) met each other until we arrived at Aarhus. Furthermore, the university will make the most to provide everybody a quick integration.

Here you can see a bunch of topics that we are going through during these months (they haven’t been ordered yet):

  • Application to Aarhus University. Documents involved.
  • Travelling from Spain (Madrid) to Aarhus
  • Introduction Week. International Centre, Student House.
  • Housing in Aarhus: dorms, shared houses, apartments…
  • Transport around the city. Bike vs bus.
  • Education in Denmark. Teaching methods and university campus.
  • Party in Aarhus.
  • General prices in Aarhus (similar all-around Denmark but Copenhagen).
  • Visiting Aarhus.
  • Places to visit around Denmark and best way to travel.
  • Libraries in Aarhus.
  • Supermarkets.
  • The weather in Aarhus.
  • Get a job in Denmark. Government grants for European Students.

Our intention is to publish a post every 3-5 days. It goes without saying that we are completely opened for new suggestions of your particular interest!

We all hope you relish this blog and get increasingly excited as the date gets closer.

We are trying to provide you with as many tips as we could, but always keep in mind that we won’t go into the small details because we do not want to expoil your own experience in this beautiful city. This is your only single adventure and you must discover everything on your own.

Embark on this amazing journey with us!
