What is the student lifestyle like in Zagreb?

Very versatile. I can't talk about classes because I wasn't doing them, but they were very willing to help me out in each institution I contacted. Besides studies the city offers a great deal of places to go out, from clubs to alternative spots with concerts, also theatre, ballet, opera and all types of galleries and museums for those who love cultural activities. If you like sports activities, gym is quite cheap but you also find different programs for students (dancing classes, etc. ). And don't forget to visit the ZOO in Maksimir!

Would you recommend the city and the University of Zagreb to other students?

Yes.

What is the food like?

When it comes to "Studentski Centar Mensa" I can honestly say it's cheap but disgusting. I recommend "Nokturno" pizzeria in centre for cheap and ok pizzas and "Mundoaka" (try out ribs if you're not vegetarian or vegan! ).

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Zagreb?

No, except for the expenses of calls and visitations of apartments. I was searching via njuškalo.

How much does it cost to live in Zagreb?

It costed me around 200 € for the accommodation and around 300 € for food transport and fun (note that I do cook for myself and love to go to concerts, so you could get by cheaper).

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

There are language courses, nevertheless I didn't need them, because my original language isn't so different from Croatian, so I can understand it normally.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Zagreb from your city?

Bus or sharing car-ride via prevozi.org.

Medika

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Zagreb?

I prefer alternative music so - "Attack! " in Medika (great hc-punk shows), "Vintage" (industrial bar), "Tvornica" (for all kinds of music), "Mochvara" (loved the vinyl and comic-books market). If you just wanna go for a drink try "Krivi put" and "Beertija".

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Zagreb?

I already did. Try "Nokturno" and "Mundoaka".

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Museum of contemporary art, Art pavillion and Klovićevi dvori are my favourite gallery spots.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Zagreb in the future?

Try to meet some locals, they are very nice and will love to help you explore all of their most favourite spots. And you can also practice your language skills with them! Enjoy.
