The Bozok Plateau: Yozgat City

Yozgat city Located in the center of Anatolia, Yozgat is known as the Bozok Plateau. The city is located in an area that was a historic settlement dating back to the Bronze Age. It has been inhabited since the early ages, and enjoys stunning natural scenery and historical attractions making it one of the most beautiful cities in Turkey. It is likely that it dates back to 5000 years BC, where the Hittites, Lydians, Persians, Macedonians and Romans, settled by the Byzantines, and in 1408 was annexed to the territory of the Ottoman Empire.

The city is now primarily a local market and administrative center, renowned for the production of many important products, such as wool, grain, gum and lead, and for the production of food, clothing, metal processing, bricks and ready-mixed concrete.

Agriculture is an important source of income, has good fertile land, and the vast forests of Yozgat have paved the way for the spread of small animal husbandry.

Animal husbandry is carried out in conjunction with agricultural activities, and in recent years industrial activities to evaluate animal products and animal husbandry methods have flourished. Significant developments have been observed in poultry farming in recent years, and small-scale poultry farms are produced in modern ways especially since 1995, and there is a significant increase in egg production.

The most important places to visit in this city are:

1- Yozgat Çamlığı Milli Parkı
It is located 2 km from the center of Yozgat at an altitude of 1500 meters above sea level, with a total area of 267 hectares. Thousands of pine and oak trees were declared a national park in 1958. You can stroll, set up tents and dine in one of their restaurants.

2- Saraykent Fountains
Located in Saraykent city of Yozgat, its waters have therapeutic properties for rheumatism, fractures, dislocations and gynecology. The Ministry of Health has also established many service facilities to attract tourists, and thousands of people come every year to visit them.

3- Akdağmadeni forests
The Akdagmadeni forests give a charming beauty to the city of Akdağmadeni. It is characterized by calm in autumn and winter, unlike summer and spring when teeming with people.

4- Clock Tower

Located in the center of Yozgat city center. It was established by the mayor "Tawfiqzadeh Ahmad Beik" in 1908. It consists of six sections, each with a small window and a walled balcony at the top, as well as an internal staircase. It is characterized by unmistakable lights from the outskirts of the city.

5- Capanoğlu Mosque
Located in İstanbulluoğlu district in the center of Yozgat city center. It was built in 1779 by order of the "Çabanoglu Mustafa Bey", to be one of the unique historical mosques built in the European style in the Ottoman era, also called the "Great Mosque".

6 - Mosque of Başçavuş 
It is located in Istanbullu district. It was established between 1800 and 1801 by Bas Gawish Khalil Aga. It features a wooden mihraba and a pulpit.

7- The Karabıyık Bridge
Located within the borders of the city of sefaalti, it dates back to 1516 when it was built by Sultan Yavuz Selim when he was traveling to Egypt. This historic bridge is characterized by its sturdy stone structure. It is 54 meters long and 4.5 meters wide and its height is estimated at 6.6 meters.

8 - Historical Bath of Rome

The remains of its ruins are located in the city of "Sarıkaya", and above one of the springs of the therapeutic area, and is the first therapeutic bath in the Anatolia region, dating back more than 3000 years, probably built during the era of the Roman state. Due to the vandalism, only a wall of ten arches on two floors remains, and in 2010 the Ministry of Tourism restored it and opened it to visitors.

9 - Museum of Yozgat
It is located in the center of Istanbullu . It was built in 1871 as a house for Nizamoğlu Konağı, and in 1985 it was opened as a museum to visitors. The museum contains many historical monuments collected from different periods of time.

10- Karslıoğlu House
It is located in the center of Istanbullu. It was founded in 1883, and in 1929 the mayor Yusuf Karslıoğlu bought it and was named after him. Kemal Ataturk stayed there for a period of time in 1934, and in 1977 the Ministry of Tourism turned it into an archaeological museum.

Climate in Yozgat
The forests around Yozgat have been deforested for thousands of years by the old inhabitants of the town.This makes the climate and weather harsh in summer and winter, and the Republic of Turkey has taken great steps to reforest at least some areas of the city.

The city's climate is semi-arid continental, winter is cold and snowy due to the internal location of Yozgat, winter temperatures can drop to below −20 ° C, and the summer is hot and dry, and often summer exceeds 30 ° C.

Education in Yozgat City
The city is interested in education, which includes Yozgat University, which was founded in 2006, which is making a great effort to improve the level of education, and the university has three colleges and one vocational school and two institutes in the beginning, and in 2013 the university has 8 faculties, 3 institutes, 5 schools, research and teaching hospital and 7 Other research centers.

The city included the Yozgat Bozok Continuing Education Center, the Research and Practice Center, a Computer Science Research Center, a Research and Language Teaching Center, and a Research Coordination and Practice Center.
