Experience in Wismar, Germany by Juliane
What is it like to live in Wismar? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
I really like to live in Wismar. But as it is a very small city I would only recommend Wismar to students who don't want to Party every night. If you are interested in sailing, beaches, nice nature walks and a good university Wismar will be perfect for you.

The rent for a room is about 200-300€. A flat with 30-50 m² will cost about 300 to 600 €. Food, drinks and entertainment is cheap.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Wismar? Is there any advice you can give?
Sometimes it is quite hard to find a shared flat. You should try to find a room on this website.

You should see the old harbor, the Kaibar, the Café Glücklich and the nice beaches on the island Poel.

Is the nightlife good in Wismar? Where is good to go?
No it is not. You need to go to Hamburg or Rostock.
What advice would you give future students heading to Wismar?
Please get in touch with locals. They are mostly nice and they can help you best. In summer it is very nice to sit at the harbor... watch the ships and the sea and having some drinks with friends.
