A Coffee Break at Café Wien in Wernigerode

Published by flag- Ewelina Gac — one year ago

With its well-preserved Old Town full of colorful half-timbered houses, Wernigerode is the most beautiful city I've seen this year. With over 700 such buildings, the town exudes a fairy-tale-like charm. Notable sites include the charming most miniature house in town, the vibrant City Hall, the fascinating Crooked House, and the uniquely adorned Krummel House. There's so much to admire in Wernigerode, from the numerous churches to the lovely gardens and the striking castle.

Should you seek a unique spot for a coffee break in Wernigerode, I wholeheartedly recommend Café Wien. A long-standing institution with a 126-year history, this café provides delightful pastries, quality coffee, and an ambiance evocative of early 20th-century Viennese cafés. Despite its acclaimed reputation, you'll find the prices fairly modest, with a cake and coffee for two running around 10 euros.
