Escape Camp

Another great experience from my Erasmus in Lithuania is that I had the opportunity to take part in one of the biggest events organized by ESN VU and that is the Escape Camp.

Everybody was very excited about this and we were all talking about how would it be, how many should we go and the places were selling out like hot cakes. It was only a matter of a few days and you could barely find a place

Escape Camp

The adevnture started very early in the morning as we went all the way to Karkle, the place where our camp was located by bus. Were we tired when we got there? We sure were but finally being there was amazing, so we recharged our batteries pretty damn fast.

We wanted to explore and really escape the stress so the name of the camp was very well chosen. We had many activites during the day and the night. Campfires, concerts, games and more.

Escape Camp

The free time part was very good as well because we really had time to enjoy the good weather and go for long walks on the shore of the Baltic Sea and even though it was May at that time, the weather was with us. We were enjoying ourselves on the beach, laughing, talking and deciding who should be the first one to try the water.

And because it was the first time being on a beach near the Baltic Sea we decided to have some fun. What kind of fun am I talking about? Well, covering a friend with sand, for example.

Escape Camp

It was all fun at the beginning but a few minutes later he found himself all covered in sand. Well, outside it got pretty windy so he didn't mind at all.

We didn't stay there for many days but we made sure that we will leave that place with many memories to share with our friends. I still remember that, well, the lunch and dinner were pretty good but one day the organizers decided to take us by surprise and order some pizza. After a day full of activites and going from one place to another, playing sports, walking on the beach you get really hungry.

So, if you are an Erasmus Student in Vilnius and decide to go to this Escape Camp do not worry, I am sure that the organizers will have surprises like this for you when you expect the less. You will not even think about, you would just say to yourself: I just want to eat, no matter what it is.

Going back to the free time part, me and my friend from Greece, Dimitris, decided to go for a small walk along the shore because outside it was so hot that day that we couldn't miss it. It was such a nice walk and the sunset was amazing.

And we also have found some friends along the way.

Escape Camp

The story that day was good. Just a short walk away from the camp and back. The best thing about this place is that it is not that crowded with tourists and you can really feel and be one with the nature. You can relax in every way possible and forget about anything that stresses you out.

Well, on another day me and Dimitris decided to take another walk and we also wanted it to not take that long, but what happened was pretty. We wanted to see the other part of the beach. As during the walk when I took the sunset pics we went on the left part of the beach, now we wanted to explore what could be found in the right part and surprise suprise, we found ourselves withour water 8 km away from our camp in Karkle. We were in what Google Maps told us to be Palanga

Escape Camp

And because we are true explorers we didn't want to take the same path back to the camp so we have decided to try a different one; that was because we were about to leave and it was pretty hard to walk back on that sand. The good part is that we discovered this  forest on the way and some parts of it were really nice.

This is the way that lead us inside the woods. We also prefered this way because we didn't have any water with us. And we were 8km away from the camp but we thought that we might find some water on the way because it was so hot outside that is getting really hard to go without drinking any. And the good part about choosing this way was that as long as we had trees on our left and right we would somehow feel better as the sun was directly hitting us.

I say hitting because this is how it felt when the sunrays touched our skin. And we went on that path for some kilometers already and guess what. We didn't find any place to take or buy some water. So if you think about going to this part, do it, but take like 2 big bottles with you. It really is worth exploring. Oh, and I forgot to mention one thing.

On that road in the woods you can also go by bike. We saw many people cycling there and we also wished that we had some mean of transport of our own but we didn't.
