Oporto is the second biggest city of Portugal, but smaller than many european cities, in the Atlantic shore and the Douro margins, so it has many opportunities to walk along the city and by the sea or river. By night, especially at the end of the week and hollidays, there are many interesting places and a street 'movida'. There's a difference between the ancient city and the modern one, but the spirit is quite the same: friendly and intriguing.

It's difficult to find a city in all Europe where to eat so well, so much and so cheap. House renting is easy and not expensive.

Each year there are more places to stand for a short ou long period of time. Choose near Metro stations, downtown, not too much near the University.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Very good in general, mainly for those interested in local dishes (fishes of all kinds, pork in every conceivable way, dry cod in one of the thousand manners to cook it, the inimaginable spicy 'francesinha'...)

What places would you recommend visiting in Vila Do Porto?

All the historic city, the river and the sea side, the art museums.

Yes, and it's getting better. Most important: the 'Galerias', different streets connected to each others where you can go after midnight. Most central and well known.

Be prepared to fall in love.
