18 year old Australian student looking for accommodation in Venice

I am an 18 year old Australian student who is looking for accomodation in Venice. I am going to be studying Languages at Ca' Foscari University and am looking for a single room to stay in, in Venice. Preferibly in the city of Venice and not Mestre as I would rather not need to take a train or bus everyday, however this is not that important. There is also the possibility of, if you want to be roomates, we could agree to find an empty apartment and split the rent between us. 

I am quite shy at the start, but once I get comfortable I tend to open up. I prefer non smokers as roomies, however this isn't a deal breaker. I like cooking and I usually keep my stuff tidy!
