Experience in Vannes, France by Juliette
What is it like to live in Vannes? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
It is a city where it is good to live, you can hear the seagulls and smell the sea air. There is a microclimate linked to the Gulf of Morbihan so it doesn't rain that often. The city is calm in general.
What is the student lifestyle like in Vannes?
After school or during the lunch break we often go to the beach from May to October. We can have parties there too!
How much does it cost to live in Vannes?
It's a bit higher than what you could expect when coming in France
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Vannes? Is there any advice you can give?
It's difficult to find an apartment in Vannes, I would recommend to the Students to ask the university before going. There is the "Jardin des Universités" which is a great and not too expensive residence.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
You'll find anything you wanna eat in the supermarket but my favourite one is the crepes :)
What places would you recommend visiting in Vannes?
The historical center, the beach near the city (conleau)
Is it good to eat out in Vannes? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
There are many good places to eat, I would advice the Japanese restaurant called Sataké, the Indian one "La porte de L'inde", a French one "La p'tite souris" in the center of the city. To taste the Breton specialty "L'ilôt crêpes" or "Crêperie St Patern"
Is the nightlife good in Vannes? Where is good to go?
There are some nice bars in the historical center, a nightclub, it's clearly not the most animated city but you'll find students to spend time with.
What advice would you give future students heading to Vannes?
The transportation closes early, which is a bit annoying, so I would advise you to rent a bike to get around.
