Live in Valparaiso is an experience one of a kind. If you're interested in diverse cultural experiences, multiple expresions of street artists. I would definitly recommended live in Valparaiso for a while.
The city is sorounded of hills where most of the people lives, there you can find beautiful places to walk with lovely views of the entire bay. At the same time exists many options to find restaurants and bars.
Valparaiso might be a little city, but at the same time you can find almost anything you like.
What is the student lifestyle like in Valparaiso?
It all depends on the university. There are some with an active cultural student agenda and others with most sports focus.
How much does it cost to live in Valparaiso?
Between 400 and 650 USD.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Valparaiso? Is there any advice you can give?
I would say that's not difficult to find accommodation. As advice i think is very important considered the noise of clubs and bars at weekends, and the connection with public transportation.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
There exists so many options and it depends particularly on how much do you want to spend.
My favorite dish is the italian food
What places would you recommend visiting in Valparaiso?
I recommend visit Cerro Alegre, Cerro Concepción. One of the houses of the Nobel Prize Pablo Neruda called La Sebastiana.
Paseo Gervasoni, Paseo Yogoeslavo, Paseo 21 de mayo.
Plaza Sotomayor, Plaza Bismark, Plaza de la Victoria.
El peral funicular, Reina Victoria funicular, Artillería Funicular.
Is it good to eat out in Valparaiso? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
There are a few very good options. My favorite spots are:
El internado (Paseo Dimalow), diverse type of food and drinks.
Malandrino (Almirante Montt Street), italian food.
Wan lung, chinese food.
504 Coffee (Serrano Street)
Bar del tío (Almirante Montt Street), diverse type of food and drinks.
Tama (Almirante Montt Street), japanese food.
Is the nightlife good in Valparaiso? Where is good to go?
The nightlife in Valparaiso is pretty wild. You can find places to have a drink for reasonable prices in Ecuador street, and you can have more cocktails kind of drinks in Almirante Montt Street.
I recommend "Bar del tío" and "El Internado"
What advice would you give future students heading to Valparaiso?
Try to connect with rhythm of the city. Walk is a very good way of getting to know the best places. And always be aware of your personal stuffs, trying always of not showing of so much in crowed places.
