August 29, 2012: Exploring Valencia
With an early rise of 5 AM under my belt, I began my day walking around the large campus of 'UPV'. I visited the buildings I would be utilizing the most during my time at 'UPV' in order to get my bearings. There were also many beautiful green areas of campus, as seen below!
Today was also the day that I found my apartment! After visiting a flat on the 9th floor of a skyscraper on 'Carrer Gasco Oliag', I quickly determined that one of the two remaining rooms was what I wanted. With a supermarket half a block away, restaurants, bars, and a short walk from the metro, I knew it was a desirable space and would probably become booked soon if I didn't grab it myself. Just as I arrived back at the agency's office, two exchange students visited the office interested in booking the last two rooms of the apartment I had just seen! To their dismay, I had them beat by a mere few minutes. Pictures of the apartment will come later once I move in on the 31st!
The agency's office is in downtown Valencia, so I had the opportunity to take a few photos of a nearby plaza ('Plaza del Ayuntamiento' or City Hall Plaza). Here's a great view of City Hall itself (el Ayuntamiento) and a nearby fountain!
