We discovered a really nice, little cupcake boutique with pastel colours and Kitsch Decor and gourmet Art Deco. The macaroons, cupcakes and other little cakes on display take centre stage in the room! A friend and I came across the boutique by accident during the Christmas period when we were walking in the Bourgoin-Jallieu centre looking for a sweet treat, and when we saw it we said that the place was perfect for a warm, quiet little break from the cold.
In fact, this modest-sized tearoom shop with 5/6 tables can't be found on the Bourgoin pedestrian street because as I explained previously, the very kind owner-and-chef wanted a calm place for clients and somewhere where they don't feel constantly observed by the dozens of pairs of eyes passing by. And for once they succeeded. The boutique is in a side street off the main pedestrian street and not many people pass through. The atmosphere is nice, the staff are very kind and funny- there was evening a child happily playing with sugar paste. There isn't a back kitchen, just a little cubbyhole to store products, the oven is visible from your table and you can even see them preparing the cupcakes too!
We drank a very good mint tea there and tried the yummy and beautiful nutella and raspberry cupcakes too!
The only thing wrong with the raspberry cupcake is that although it was super tasty, I didn't think you could really taste the raspberry that much! There are normally lots of cupcakes to choose from but there weren't any more left when we went, just the ones we had. However, the cupcakes and the big cakes can also be made fresh to order. You can eat a bagel or a sandwich there too if you're more of a savoury person.
Their prices are very affordable, particularly considering the quality of the products that you can taste!
I think that if the opportunity arises, I would go back there because I think it is a really lovely place, and I hope you do too.
