Experience in Tomas Bata University in Zlin, Czech Republic by Aneta

Generally, what is Tomas Bata University in Zlin like?

It depends on the faculty of course. The Faculty of Multimedia Communications is great breeding ground for developing of your designer and artist skills. I would say, that it is more focused on useful projects, that can be useful in the future. It is not so artistic, which is style I really like. Development is important part of the project, but the final result, prototype and the whole presentation of the project is even more important.

What are the facilities like?

We have MacBooks in few rooms free to use. For me, as a product designer, is important, that we have machines for prototyping. We have laser cut, ZUND digital cutter, two 3D printers (older one and Průša), plexiglass polisher, wire bender and more.

What are the tutors like?

It defers, but mostly they are experienced and with passion for their field. They are giving a good honest feedback.

Are the lessons easy in Tomas Bata University in Zlin?

Mostly it is not really easy to pass. Also they are not giving good grades for free. But this is about important subjects, not about each of them. Some of them, mostly elective ones can be really easy to make. And also for erasmus students there are probably different rule, but I am not sure.

Does the University organise activities? If so, what are they like?

Sport day, plain-air school

Do you think there is a good quality of teaching?

Yes
