Discover Car racing & good food in Le Mans

Hi every body !

I post this little description about Le Mans, if some of you wondering theirselve about the "Sarthoise life".

The town is not really knew in other country, it's a shame 'cause it's a rich place and living there could be a pleasure for exchange students. I spend my first year of university in Law degree here. The buildings are quite new because all was rebuild the last 10 years.The teachers are nice and expected from the students to be autonome. The library is really complete and take part in a regional books exchange with other universities, you can order some particular books and have it even if they are not in your own library.

The dormitories are clean, you can have a single room (9m² ) with a private Showerroom or a little studio if you ask enought early the Student Service (Le CROUS de Nantes). You share in each level a kitchen with the other students.

The city itself is made of different parts : the old town with all the medieval stages, the center with the shops, heart of all the activity with the Republic's Place, the south with the Sport Stadium and the Concert Hall and off course the north area with the University. In the center you can find lot of English Speaking Pub  (Irish Pub Mc Mulligan) and good Rock Music scene (The Union Jack, Café Crème, Le Lézard, le Comptoir) and coming back to the university with the tram-way or the bus. Transport card cost around 23€ with your student card. At the begin of October you can see lot of concerts in "Le Forum Jeune", it's a music contest for all the Students Bands.

I 've met some ERASMUS Students during my first year at this university and they give me the curiosity to moove in some other countries. They have fun in Le Mans because the cost of accomodations, the university's fees and the possibilities of travel were not as expensive as in Paris. From Le Mans you can discover La Bretagne or La Normandie, all the Beaches can be joined by train, in 55 min you can be in Paris too !

The food specialities of the North-west part of France are delicious: crêpes, caramel au beurre salé, Far breton, Quatre-quarts, Rillettes, Boudin noir ou blanc, Petits sablés, Petits Beurres de LU, Coteau du Loir, Pâtés divers... You have to try it!

One of the most attactive event in Le Mans is every year the famous car-race "Les 24h du Mans", in June. But you can see lot of other manifestation all the year long : Le Mans Classic, Le Mans Series, If you are ingeenier you'll enjoy the place.
