Experience at the University of Salento, Italy. By Gabriele
What is the University of Salento like overall?
Generally, the Università degli Studi del Salento (sede di Lecce) is good.
What is the building like?
Not good. The classrooms are very small.
And the professors?
They are very well-prepared.
Is it easy to do well at the University of Salento?
The exams are difficult to pass, but this depends on the exam and the professor.
Does the University offer extra-curricular activities? If so, what are they?
For example, there are some sports activities (known as the CUSL, which is the University Sports Centre in Lecce) and theatrical activities (which take place at the Teatro di Ateneo at "Manifatture Knos"/via vecchia frigole, Lecce). Also, there are many activities and parties aimed towards Erasmus students at the 'Officine Cantelmo', situated at the University of Salento, in the Lecce city centre.
Do the programmes of study seem to be of good quality?
Yes, but it depends on your course.
Do you have any anecdotes that you would like to share?
Despite the fact that the 'Università degli Studi del Salento' is a little disorganised (especially the organisation of the programmes of study at the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literatures at the beginning of each semester), the buildings are sometimes very cold (because the radiators do not work) and sometimes the projector used to show slides and the microphones in the classrooms do not work.. You must make the most of Lecce and its university!
