Experience in University of Navarra, Spain by Julio

Generally, what is University of Navarra like?

It is a Catholic (OPUS DEI) University, so it may be similar to whatever institution you come from, or very different. Courses are well organised and teachers are very reachable for any questions or doubts outside of class.

What are the facilities like?

The facilities are generally modern and clean, very well organised. There is a couple of old really fascinating buildings which are very well taken care of. It has a very nice Museum and many different libraries, including a central library which is very big.

What are the tutors like?

Tutors are great in general, it really seems like the University takes the time to chose competent teachers. This may vary between degrees, but in Architecture the tutors are very good, and from what I've heard, it is very much the same in other degrees.

Are the lessons easy in University of Navarra?

Depends on what you're studying. Architecture, Medicine, Law, and the double degrees are fairly hard, I know a lot of people that have dropped out, but they are not impossible, if you work hard you can get decent grades. Maybe I am missing some degrees, but in general, degrees in Fcom (Facultad de Comunicación) courses are pretty easy to follow.

Does the University organise activities? If so, what are they like?

They do make a couple of activities a year, like Sports Day which I think is on the 17th of September. They also organise many Catholic festives, such as La Novena.

Do you think there is a good quality of teaching?

Teaching is (in my opinion) very good, teachers are very competent in general.

Are there any stories you can share?

From what I know, Erasmus students do have fun in here. I had one friend from Erasmus that would tell me how she'd be going out to party a lot because she had bought a sort of Erasmus ticket which gave her free access to a couple of clubs for all Thursdays and Wednesdays (I think) of the year. It definitely is not Madrid or Barcelona, but it is fun. Either way, I think that the Erasmus experience is very good regardless of where you go, you make a lot of friends and the Erasmus organisers are always making plans and flied trips.
