Besides the Sami week that happens every year, in the Gammlia area, close to the Museum of Vasterbotten in Umea, there are permanent examples of the Sami culture that can be visited all along the year.

Specifically, there are 3 Sami settlements on Gammlia. They represent buildings from the forest, South and North Sami.

They were built based on real buildings – huts and storage buildings - from the Sami settlements of the Vasterbotten County. There are also an exhibition that shows how they were constructed and the sites from where the models where gathered, the people who live there and the nature around.
