The open air museum of Gammlia doesn’t only include farm buildings but also city buildings from 1800’s. One of the most important and, at the same time, beautiful buildings is the Helena Elisabeth-Church of Gammlia. It is a wooden church with octagonal plant. It was built in 1802 and was the first church of Holmön. But with the time, the church was in very bad state and was almost demolated in 1957. But, by luck, it didn’t happened and was moved to Gammlia and restored. The name of the church comes from a woman who donated a silver cup and a chandelier to the church in 1829.Nowadays this building is still in use and it is very popular for baptisms and weddings.
