Love-play
Among the light installations of the fifth edition of the Festival Umeå Autumn one of them covered an entire square with a play-garden, named “Kär-lek”, or “Love-play”. It was placed in the Renmarkstorget, the square in front of the Tourist office. It consisted of the projection of moving lights with heart motives in the snowed floor, tree lights and a smoke machine hidden inside a play house, which also played music and sounds. As you can see from the photos kindly given by Hernán, the love motif is everywhere. It is interesting that the artists who designed this art work based on a Swedish song. I’m not going to write the Swedish song, although I’m going to show to you a part of the letter translated, in order that you can see how it influenced the authors: The children play
When they play echoing life's own song in their games
Operation and should ystert or gloomy dull
Sounds it as long as it is allowed
All they think and know about reality
Do they play by
There are peculiarities
Adults believe that play is pastime
They are wrong in this
Play is life
The children are the dearest to us, and also
best in the world to play.
We do not stop playing because we grow old.
We grow old because we stop playing.
