A young city for young people

As I told you, Umea is a very young city. It has to be it, since it was named Youth Municipality of the Year in 2008. This award was given due to the great effort of the city the involvement of the young people and its future. The young character of the Umea city is reflected the amount of places to spent your time with friends, such as cafés, restaurants, pubs, discos and shops. And it is also a very dynamic city, with many cultural events such as the Umeå International Jazz Festival, Umeå Open, Holmön Folk Song Festival, Sami Week, Umeå Football Festival, Edge, and the Täfteå festival. This is very appreciated by the thousands of universities students who came to Umea to study
