The fifth edition of the Festival Umeå Autumn light consisted on different light installations designed by artists which involved light as a tool to reference to the love of this city. But, despite being designed by specialist, the community was also involved on it. Example of it is the art work of “1000-tals lyktor”, or 1000s lamps The art work was placed a magical evening in 19th November and it was only during the opening night, when the darkness is the most densely. It was placed in the Twin Town Park. This park is popular for children in kindergartens and schools. And as a gift from the city to them, Umea wanted to open this festival and create the installation;1000's lamps;. This installation was carried out in previous years too. In 2005, the first year that the children made ??lanterns to the city and attracted 300 children. 2009 was attended by 3100 children, each with his lantern. This year, 4000 children from Umeå's kindergartens and schools made a candle holder for installation.

This evening, at 17:30, all the candles were lit and they were burning until about 23:00.
