Experience in Free University of Brussels, Belgium by Thibault
Generally, what is Free University of Brussels like?
It's a solid university. The staff is competent and available in general. The approach is very theorical.
What are the facilities like?
The building isn't in a perfect condition itself but it's like all old universities of this type. From my point of view, considering material, I didn't miss anything during my stay.
What are the tutors like?
As I've mentioned earlier, they are very competent and available.
Are the lessons easy in Free University of Brussels?
Not at all. It requires a great investment to pass the theory part of each course. The practical part is easier.
Does the University organise activities? If so, what are they like?
I personally didn't take much part but yes, it's like in every university more or less I guess. What I can say is that when I wanted to do an activity, I found it.
Do you think there is a good quality of teaching?
Overall, yes. But personally, it felt like it really was the "old way of teaching": 95% theorical and a very strict way of doing the course. All here is set since a long time ago (too much in my opinion).
Are there any stories you can share?
Sadly no, I am a very bad story-teller and my stay was nearly purely academic.
