My home institution in Quebec city - Université Laval

Université Laval is located in Quebec city, the French part of Canada. 

It is my home institution and I am proud of it! Université Laval has a huge campus with a lot of faculties, restaurants, bars, cafés and a lot of activities are going on there! There is also a hair salon and a mini supermarket called Chez Alphonse.

At the beggining of the school year (September, October), there are many parties all over the campus as live music shows (French Canadian bands) or just big parties where everybody drinks (Octoberfest by example). 

People on the campus are, in general, very friendly with international students, but like everywhere else, it is not always easy to become friend with local students. Normally, international students stay hang with other international students. At université Laval, there are many people from France and it is always funny to see them during winter. 

From January to March, it can easily reach -30 celcius degrees outside, so prepare yourself with good winter clothes (at least a winter jacket, winter boots, beanie and gloves). But the good thing about that, you can drink a good coffee or a good beer 7/7 on the campus! 

A good place to take a beer on the campus is called Pub Universitaire. At this bar, you should taste the beer called La Fin du Monde (it is a beer from Quebec). If you go outside of the campus, you can go to Le Sacrilège, Le Nelligan Irish Pub, La Ninkasi, La Cuisine to take a good beer. All these bars are situated downtown (about 20 minutes by bus).
