Angers, the city of the Anjous
I just loved Angers. The castle, the fantastic history, the famous ApocalypseTapestry in the Angers' s castle which I visited several times, even with a guide, the David d'Angers museum, the sweet houses of the middle ages, the small houses in the further parts of Angers, Roseraie, the suburb, the people and the lots of thousands of students who always laughed. I also loved the railway station which I saw from my window (that was my dream to live near the station) with the TGV-s coming and starting silently. It was calm a silent. Angers is a city of harmony. All the people in the shops and in the neighbourhood were really nice. You can borrow a bicycle for free for four month if you are a student. I went by byke everywhere. I loved the UCO, as both my teachers and the students studying with me were excellent. One girl even gave me her notes in emergency (about Chaucer's Canterbury tales) in a word document, and she even offered me to read the 500 pages with me. I was amazed by the helpfullness of the French students. I found friends also in a choir where we sang gregorian songs, and I attended the meetings of the group of young people at the cathedral whom I prayed with for the poor and the sick people every Tuesday evening from 20.30 to 21.30. I miss them so much! I usually had lunch at the UCO canteene for 3.20EUR, and I loved the meals there. For another 40 cents you could buy some cheese, too, to finish luch in the French way. I learned a lot of French words, expressions, customes and also a lot about the Fench culture. I highly recommend Angers and mostly the UCO for Erasmus students. The UCO arranges your accommodation. They look for a room for you, and the room is clean and comfortable. I had a really nice landlord who was kind and helpful. There were also other UCO students in the other rooms of the house, so I had a good company. The girls even cooked for me sometimes. I regularly went to parties with the UCO Erasmus students, but also others took me to the cinema or to a walk and chat. I am grateful to God that I was able to get to know Angers. My spending a semester at the UCO in Angers has improved my life.
