Experience in University College Birmingham, United Kingdom by Elena
Generally, what is University College Birmingham like?
I love Birmingham itself - it's lively, lots of shops, nightclubs and places to eat so it's a great choice if you like busy, urban, modern places :)
What are the facilities like?
Many things to do at UCB, from the gym to spa, or if you have a problem/need advice there's also free councelling sessions. Interested in languages? Study a full-time degree and you can learn another language for free. Proof-reading/spelling/grammer help is also a free service provided too.
What are the tutors like?
Friendly, can have a laugh with them, helpful.
Are the lessons easy in University College Birmingham?
50/50 but that's personal experience. Everyone as their strengths and weaknesses, main thing is if you're stuggling book an appointment with the teacher and they'll help explain things in a different way.
Does the University organise activities? If so, what are they like?
'School' trips - days out / Night time events.
Do you think there is a good quality of teaching?
Personal experience, but I found it to be of a good level. Just bare in mind UCB doesn't provide 'academic' courses such as 'English Lit' so don't compare the standard to other universities which provide these types of courses. I would say UCB is a mixture of practical and theory based learning - which, in my opinion, is the best of both.
Are there any stories you can share?
Had a fab time at UCB, their exchange progamme has led me to study at a university in Madrid, Spain, which I cannot thank them enough for :D
