What is it like to live in Tübingen? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

It's no exaggeration to say that the whole city is an university itself. The landscape is amazingly beautiful. You will live next to the Alps, and there is a huge Nature Park nearby called Schönbuch. The city has a picturesque historic center, with half-timbered houses and the Hohentübingen castle. The mayor is a member of the Green Party, so the city is very ecological and there are a lot of organic supermarkets.

What is the student lifestyle like in Tübingen?

Tubingen is an excellent city to study in. Within the university, the students and the professors are very motivated.

How much does it cost to live in Tübingen?

Tuebingen is not a cheap place to live in. A shared room normally costs in between 300€ and 400€. A beer is around 3€.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Tübingen? Is there any advice you can give?

Yes, it can be really difficult to find a room. I would recommend to start looking for it in advance, and patience.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Swabian pockets, which is a kind of ravioli, and spaetzle, which is a sort of a pasta dish.

What places would you recommend visiting in Tübingen?

There is an archaeological museum within the Hohentübingen castle, where you can find famous prehistoric art pieces.

Is it good to eat out in Tübingen? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

There are a lot of excellent Italian and local-food restaurants. Just walk around and you will spot them easily.

Is the nightlife good in Tübingen? Where is good to go?

It's alright, there are some nice clubs although they are a bit hipster, like Neu-Köln.

What advice would you give future students heading to Tübingen?

Take time into consideration when looking for a room, because it might take long.
