Experience in Tripolis, Greece by John
What is it like to live in Tripolis? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
Tripolis is a very quiet place. It is suitable for families and for people that enjoy being alone or they love a peaceful life without noise and without overcrowded places. I would recommend it to that kind of people, not to the people that want to party or want to experience something unforgettable and fun. All in all is a small city, with about 30.000 population. The university is about 30 minutes by foot from the centre of the city or about 10 minuts by bus. Βecause of its geographical spot, Tripolis provides you with the opportunity to visit traditional Greek villages either with a car or a bus (cheap ticket and a few minutes away). Tripolis is the capital of Arcadia, surrounded by mountains and has got natural beauty that has to be explored. It is mostly a winter destination, because of its very cold climate, the humidity, the fog the snow and the rain. Some of the most beautiful villages are Stemnitsa, Dimitsana, Vytina, Levidi. These places are very nice for winter vacation, or for daily trips, due to their greek typical food, the different lifestyle of the locals and the very beautiful small houses with chimneys. Except for Arcadia, Tripolis is in the centre of Peloponnese, so you can easily visit other big cities that are about an hour or two hours away. (Athens, Nafplio, Sparti, Kalamata, Patra). Cities with more population and unique beauties to encounter.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
Meat lovers will enjoy the food in Tripolis and in Arcadia generally. Mediterranean tastes with local oil, cheese and fresh meat (pork, chicken, calf etc.) I am a meat lover myself so i enjoyed the food there. Furthermore, for the pasta lovers there is a very good typical Italian restaurant called ''Villa Igognito''. On the other hand there are also other options that offer a variety of plates for all kinds of interests and likings. In addition let's do not forget to mention that there are plenty of fast food restaurants, too. (souvlaki, gyros, burgers, sandwiches, pizza)

And the road that leads to the nearest mountain for a very satisfying view from above. Especially during the sunset you are going to love the colours of the sky that mix with the green tall trees of the forrest.

The only club in the city is called ''Oggi''. The best place to party. Nice people, very good staff and the hottest music. It is the only place that organizes so many different events. And there are a few bars worth visiting, such as ''negro'' ''lobby'' ''menta''
What advice would you give future students heading to Tripolis?
Taking into consideration all the above information i would like to say that if you want to have lots of stories to tell your friends about your life as a student, do not choose Tripolis. But if you want to sit back and relax, if you want to take a break from big places and clear your head, well yeah Tripolis will do. Tripolis can cover your purpose in that way. So it is up to your intentions.
