What is it like to live in Tours? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Tours is a nice little city in the heart of the Loire Valley. It is little more than one hour from Paris by TGV, and from here you can reach all the beautiful castles and lands of the Loire Valley easely.

The Centre Ville is amazing, if u live there you will not even need the public transport to get to the university or the most important party places. There are beautiful gardens and islands where u can do open-air programs. Bref, it's a good place to stay.

How much does it cost to live in Tours?

Well, a little room in a student hall is around 200-250 Euros. But the student halls are usually far from the centre ville, and the public transport is quite bad. If u are lucky, u can get a room with flat-mate for 300 Euros (everything is included), near to the centre ville, but most likely u will get a studio for around 450 Euros in the centre ville. The food has normal price in the supermarkets, but the cigarettes are really expensive (6, 5 Euros) and to go out is also quiet expensive.

For me it was around 600-650 Euros per month. Or something like that.

Is the nightlife good in Tours? Where is good to go?

YES! It is really good. The streets of the centre ville is always full of life. Guingette, The Pale, Gros Bar - this is the cheapest place to drink.
