Erasmus Experience in Tilburg, Netherlands by Kanoon

Why did you choose to go to Tilburg, Netherlands?

Because Dutch people speak English well and the living expense is reasonable.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I didn't pay for the tuition but I do pay for the rent and pocket money.

What is the student lifestyle like in Tilburg?

Very individual, everyone responsible for their own task and courses they take, many students have part-time job.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Tilburg to other students?

Yes. The city is really safe, clean and green. Best transportation is bicycle, good location for travel to other countries as well.

What is the food like?

Flat taste, nothing special.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Tilburg?

Not much really, you can find a place like 200-400 euros a month easily.

How much does it cost to live in Tilburg?

Depends on a person, just food can be 12 euros a day.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

Yes. There is Dutch course available and the language is easy because everyone speaks English.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Tilburg from your city?

My city is Bangkok so I flew from Suwannabhumi Airport to Schipol Airport and take a train to Tilburg Universiteit Station (you can take a bike or luggage on the train).

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Tilburg?

City centre has a lot of night clubs but my favorite is Cafe Philip (most dance). People here are more on drinking than dancing.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Tilburg?

Happy Italy. Nice, cheap and cozy.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

I think when you get to know the people and get to live there, you learn the culture.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Tilburg in the future?

Be strong haha.... the economics and finance are a bit hard. Don't forget to study (because no ones gonna push or inspire you much, it's a very mature style of study).
