What is it like to live in The Hague? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

The Hague is a very multicultural city. Almost everyone speaks decent English and it is very foreign-friendly. There are a lot of nice restaurants and cafes.

What is the student lifestyle like in The Hague?

The student lifestyle is quite different than in other country's. The universities are focussed to studying only. Sports and activities are not related to the university but are organized by sports clubs or with your friends. Tuesday is tequila night, Thursday is student night and Friday and Saturday is regular going out evenings.

How much does it cost to live in The Hague?

Depends on the neighboorhood and housing prices vary between 400 - 800 euro's for a student room. Vegetables are relatively cheap, other prices are regular.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in The Hague? Is there any advice you can give?

Yes, but international students can contact organisations or your school who help them find accommodation.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Dutch dinner consists of potatoes, vegetables and meat. But since we are very internationally oriented we have a lot of Indian, Chinese, Surinamese, Japanese etc. takeaways. In the Hague, there is also an oriental supermarket.

What places would you recommend visiting in The Hague?

Scheveningen (the beach)
Madurodam (the Netherlands in miniature)
Grote markt (a square with lots of cafes and shops)

Is the nightlife good in The Hague? Where is good to go?

Yes, depends on your own preference.

What advice would you give future students heading to The Hague?

Don't be scared. You will get along pretty quickly. Everyone speaks English and a lot of signs are in English too. The people are very direct but friendly.
